Topic: "Edit Reviews" does not appear / Reviewers cannot access the assigned papers  (Read 70793 times)

The review process has started and we have informed the reviewers by bulk mail about their tasks and deadlines.
However, it seems that they cannot access the submissions assigned to them and when logging in, "Edit Reviews" is not offered.

How can we proceed with the review process?

If the reviewers cannot access the submissions assigned to them for reviewing, please test the following:

1. Please remember that you have to assign the submissions to the reviewers.
Please refer to: How to Assign Reviews in ConfTool

2. Please check if the reviewing phase has been enabled.
You can find the setting here:
Overview => Settings => Conference Phases and Deadlines
Please go to the section "Reviewing Phase: PC Members and Reviewers Can Access the Submitted Contributions Assigned to Them for Review" and check whether the phase has been enabled and is active.

Please remember that you can (and should) always test what normal users see when you log in as one of them.
Go to the list of users and select "login as" in the right-hand column.
You can find more information here: How can I test the settings?

When "Edit Reviews" still is not offered, you might have changed some of the standard settings.

1. You can disable or close reviewing for each submission type / conference track.
Please go to:
Overview => Settings => Manage Submission Types and Conference Tracks
Select and edit the corresponding type / track and scroll down to the section "Review Options".
Go to the option "Enter and Edit Reviews" and make sure that you the setting "Enable Reviewing: Reviewers can be assigned, and they can access the submissions assigned to them if the reviewing phase is enabled. (Default)" is active (see image).

2. Please check if you have activated the "Open Review Process".
In this case each reviewer can access all contributions and review all of them.
Assignment is not possible in this case, so the page "Edit Review" is not available.
Therefore, the "Open Review Process" must be disabled.

Please go to this page:
Overview => Settings => Main Settings for the Review Process
Enable the Expert settings at the bottom of the page by clicking on “Expert Settings”.
Check for the option "Open Review Process?" whether it is activated.
