Topic: Hide deadlines from authors  (Read 85493 times)

We want to have "official" deadlines displayed to authors and "internal" (later) deadlines for submissions as entered in the ConfTool system.

Can we therefore somehow hide submission deadlines from authors?

ConfTool currently does not support an "official" vs. an "unofficial" deadline.

However, there are two options to handle this scenario:
  • As you can change the deadlines at any time, just update the deadline when it approaches to the new, final deadline.
  • You can also disable the automatic display of deadlines and enter the "official" deadline in the text "Contribution Details", that is displayed to the authors for each submission type.

You can set the global deadline for paper submission here:
Overview => Settings => Conference Phases and Deadlines
This deadline applies to all tracks / submission types.

You can also define alternative deadlines and hide them for each track for both submissions and reviews.
Please go to:
Overview => Settings => Manage Submission Types / Conference Tracks
Open the submission type / conference track and scroll down to the section "Alternative Deadlines of This Type / Track".
For the the option "Show deadlines?" choose the setting "No" to disable the display of deadlines for this track / submission type for authors and reviewers (see image 1).

You can now simply use the field "Contribution Details" and write down the official deadline as part of the general information about this contribution type (see image 1).

Hint:
Deadlines are displayed on the main page for submissions only if there are less than 180 days left until the deadline (see image 2).
