This interactive workshop is aimed at repository practitioners who want to understand and implement a modern Islandora repository using current best practices. Designed for repository managers, developers, and digital librarians, the session provides a practical and conceptual overview of contemporary Islandora architecture, metadata modeling, and interoperability considerations.

The workshop will introduce the Drupal-based Islandora stack, clarify the role of Fedora and external services, and walk participants through modern metadata modeling approaches that support long-term preservation, interoperability, and discovery. Special emphasis will be placed on findability, covering search engine optimization (SEO), generative engine optimization (GEO), and structured metadata for improved visibility across platforms.
