LDAP Tool Box, an Open Source project for OpenLDAP and Active Directory management Worteks, France The LDAP Tool Box project was established in France in the late 2000s and provides a comprehensive suite of tools for LDAP directory administration, supporting both standard directories like OpenLDAP and specific environments such as Active Directory. Notably, the Self Service Password and Service Desk applications offer robust open-source alternatives to costly proprietary solutions like Secops, ManageEngine, or Active Roles. This session will present the project and its entire toolset, illustrating practical use cases and sharing feedback from deployments on both OpenLDAP and Active Directory. As the founder and lead developer, I have maintained this project for over 15 years. LDAP Tool Box components are now widely adopted; the Self Service Password module, for instance, is translated into 28 languages. The project was honored with the OW2 Community Award in 2021 and the OW2 Technology Award in 2025. Furthermore, the Service Desk component is, to my knowledge, the only open-source software capable of administering users within an Active Directory domain. | ||
