Symmetrien in Mathematik und Allgemeiner Relativitätstheorie University of Tübingen, Germany
Bereits in der Schule beschäftigen wir uns mit Symmetrien wie etwa der Spiegelsymmetrie ebener Figuren oder der Rotationssymmetrie dreidimensionaler Körper. Diese sind nicht nur ästhetisch, die Symmetrie hilft uns auch, z.B. den Flächeninhalt einer ebenen Figur oder das Volumen eines dreidimensionalen Körpers zu bestimmen. Auch in der mathematischen Forschung spielen Symmetrien eine große Rolle. Wir werden über die mathematische Definition von Symmetrien sprechen und ergründen, welche Rolle Symmetrien in der (Differential-)Geometrie und in Einsteins Allgemeiner Relativitätstheorie spielen.
