How can AI be integrated into a traditional undergraduate lecture? A report on an experiment University of Kassel, Germany Artificial intelligence is having an increasing impact on research and teaching, including (and perhaps especially) in mathematics courses. The traditional practice of copying answers is often being replaced by a query to ChatGPT. One can either lament this trend or try to develop new strategies for teaching and learning. In the framework of the projekt HALMA I decided to give it a try in the course "Ordinary differential equations". Students’ experiences with AI were assessed through questionnaires, but also through personal discussions. Due to the absence of experience on my side it was a lot of trial and error. This presentation will showcase several examples from this experiment as well as findings from student surveys. | |
