Topic: Alternatives to Add-ons like ‘DownThemAll!’ and ‘ScrapBook’.

When Firefox 57 ("Quantum") was released in 2017, it dropped support for the old XUL-based add-ons, and the versions of "DownThemAll!" and "ScrapBook" available at that time stopped working. This page used to recommend alternative browsers that still supported the old add-on interface. This is no longer necessary.

1. In Most Cases You No Longer Need an Add-on

ConfTool Pro now includes built-in functions for both tasks:

To download all uploaded files: open the drop-down menu "Related Functions" in the list of submissions and select "Save All Files as ZIP Using the Current Filter".
To create a browsable copy of the conference agenda: go to Overview => Data Import and Export => Static Agenda Export (ZIP).

2. Both Add-ons Are Available Again for Current Browsers

DownThemAll has been rewritten as a WebExtension and works with current versions of Firefox and Chrome. See Downloading Multiple Files from ConfTool.
WebScrapBook, the maintained successor of ScrapBook, is available for Firefox and Chrome. See Create a Browsable Copy of the Session Overview.

3. Please Do Not Use the Legacy Browsers and Add-ons

Earlier versions of this article recommended Waterfox Classic, Basilisk and Pale Moon, which still supported the old add-on interface. We no longer recommend them: Waterfox Classic was last released in November 2022 and has known, unpatched security vulnerabilities. The same applies to the old add-on versions that were previously offered for download here.

Please use a current version of Firefox or Chrome together with the extensions named above.
