Topic: Limit the number of participants from one specific participant group

Our conference has two different participant groups – regular attendants and students. We would like to put a cap on the number of students attending at the conference. How can we limit the number of participants from this specific participant group to attend at the conference?

(A German version of this article is available.)

You can limit each participant group easily in ConfTool Pro (the standard version does not offer this feature).

Please go to this page:
Overview => Settings => Manage Participant Groups
… and edit the participant group for which you want to limit the number of participants by first marking it and then clicking on “Edit Participant Group”.

On the following page, please first turn on the Expert Settings toggle in the lower navigation bar.
The toggle is labeled "Expert Settings Disabled" until activated.

In the section “Extra Attributes”, define for the option “Max availability” the maximum number of participants from this specific participant group (see image).

If you want to limit the total number of participants, please refer to this forum article:
Limit the total number of all participants (from all participant groups)

You can also limit the maximum number per group manually in the Pro version.
In order to do so, please go to:
Overview => Settings => Manage Participant Groups
... and click on "Edit" to edit the corresponding participant group.

On the following page, in order to deactivate this participant group, go to the section "Group Enabled and Visible?" and select the option "NEVER shown to normal users (only to assistants and admins in the back end)." (see image 2).
Users and registrants who wish to register for participation will no longer see it.
