Topic: A user is complaining that he/she is unable to log in  (Read 38063 times)

One or some users complain that they are not being able to log in to ConfTool.

How can you find out the reason for the problem?

Please go to the list of users first:

Overview => User and Participant Management => List of All Users

Search for the person by entering the respective name or e-mail address and click the button "Search"

Click on the name of the person found to see the user's details.

This page also lists the user name and the password if the user has not logged in yet.
Double-check if the e-mail is correct and matches the mail address of the user who sent you the request.

Use the button "Send Password to User" in the right-hand column to send a new password to this user if required.

Hint: Every ConfTool installation has a separate user database for privacy reasons. Sometimes people created a user account for another event and now think they can use this account for every conference. That is not the case.

As administrator, please go to:

Overview => User and Participant Management => Browse System Log

and enter the user name to be searched for.

You can also filter for login attempts by searching via the search "Only Message/Error Level"

The log entry of unsuccessful attempts show why a log-in failed (e.g. "unknown user name").

The user might also have tried his e-mail address or his real name, so it might be advisable to search for this too.
