Dipolar and Confined Spatial Distribution of Cardiac Potentials in Controlled Torso Models 1: Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, España; 2: University of Michigan, USA; 3: D!lemma Ltd startup, España Understanding the spatial distribution of potentials resulting from cardiac sources cardiac potentials is a central target of the forward problem in electrocardiography. In this work, we introduce a mathematically operative framework based on confined dipolar response, in terms of the well-known Green’s functions, which allows efficient evaluation of potential distributions in controlled torso models. The approach provides a practical implementation for visualizing the effects of anatomical and conductivity variations. We studied both two-dimensional configurations and three-dimensional cases in the principal anatomical planes, progressively adding structures such as the heart and lungs. Results show how these inclusions reshape the potential field distribution across space, while maintaining patterns that are not excessively complex. These findings suggest that confined dipolar Green’s functions can serve as a complementary tool for forward problem representations and for intuitive and quantitative visualization of spatial distributions in cardiac potentials.
