There is a growing concern for the future of true scholarship. We are experiencing a Publish or Perish culture, and our community has increasingly been regulating by metrics. I call upon the scholarly community to reflect on recent changes to academia, and I call for coordinated efforts to reorganize the scholarly ecosystem. I will offer a holistic view of academia and outline institutions (as open science initiatives), audiences (ref to RRBM), messages (grand challenges and polymorphic research), channels (ref DORA) and communities (communal, open and impactful) that interact in this ecosystem. I will introduce a sharing philosophy as the foundation of change. The keynote will lean on my book with the same title. | ||
