How to Configure Skrill (Moneybookers) for ConfTool Pro

To use Skrill (formerly Moneybookers) with ConfTool Pro, the system should be used together with an official SSL certificate for secure data transfer (https://). You also need a free, verified account with Skrill. Details on how to create your account can be found on the Skrill Website.

The following steps are required to link your Skrill account to ConfTool Pro for secure online payments.

Please take a look at the Skrill service fees for using their business payment solution. Skrill also offer an (optional) full chargeback protection, but the fees are accordingly high (about 8%).

1. Create a Business Account / Upgrade Your Personal Skrill Account to a Business Account

If you do not have a Skrill account yet, open the page "Skrill Business Registration" and start the setup process for a business account.

In order to update your personal Skrill account, contact Skrill at merchantservices@skrill.com and ask them to upgrade your account to a business account.

Please send them the following details:

  • Legal form
  • Company / Organisation name and address
  • Registration Nummer
  • Representative
  • URL of your organization's / company's homepage
  • URL of ConfTool installation (your "online shop").

Skrill only accept "online shops" that provide the following information on their website:

  • An imprint with full business details and address,
  • Return policies for cancellations,
  • Privacy policies, and
  • General terms and conditions

2. Configuration of your Skrill account

After your Skrill account has been updated to a business account, please log-in and go to the page "My Account" => "Merchant Tools". Please enter a "secret word" here (different from your account password!). It should have (up to) 10 characters and must consist of lower case characters (a-z) and numbers (0-9) only (please see image 1 below).

3. Configuration of ConfTool Pro

Please log-in to ConfTool and go to:
Overview => Settings => Manage Payment Options

Go to the section "Skrill/Moneybookers" and enable this module. Please enter your Skrill account email, the 3-digit ISO currency code, and the "secrect word" as entered in your Skrill "Merchant tools" (see above).

Please also enter an "event identifier" that is used to create the transaction IDs for Skrill and helps you to keep track of your payments. You may also enter the URL of an image to be shown on the Skrill payment page. This can be for instance the image you also use in your ConfTool installation head.

That should be it.

Please test your configuration with a smaller booking.
